Default Shiming Rear Toe

In review, the T/A bearings in my 66 were failing. Bair's did a real nice job restoring the units. I reinstalled them with the original shim packs in their original locations. Prior to re-installation I measured the width of the front T/A bushings and found them a tad wider than what I had measured on the worn ones. Had her up on the alignment rack last Saturday. The owner of the shop is a good guy and although he preferred not to do the toe shimming, he left me alone to do the alignment. I made a rookie error that I did not discover until reviewing the printout the next day. I

Print out of Saturday alignment attempt
was concentrating on the "total toe" figure and not the side to side toe. What caught my eye was the -0.07 thrust angle, then the two arrows printed on the rear spec that both pointed outward. Twas then I realized you could get a reasonable total toe with both tires individually aligned incorrectly. The individual tires show toe out on the drivers side of -0.05" and on the passengers side, excessive toe in of 0.10", close to 1/8".
I wanted to try and correct as much of this as possible in my garage before putting her back on the rack. I found an old thread from Duke and i used his methodology, see attached. I think I have it pretty close to correct but the rack will be the final word. I did make up some 1/64" shims out of common home fascia coil to help dial it in. See what you think.

A common error and a reasonable approach. I look forward to what the alignment rack says.

But, a 1982 Monte Carlo?

Your calculations for adjusting the Toe are based on the tire radius, but Toe is measured at the wheel (per my references)..

Have seen both tire and wheel as being the measurement for Toe, but most US manufacturers (if not all) used the rim diameter.

Using degrees (as modern alignment fixtures do) eliminates that confusion.

The Monte Carlo....well you have to enter some kind of vehicle to get the computer happy. I adjusted the alignment, close as I could, it is tough to get forensically accurate, to the sport specs. If the ratio should have been based on wheel radius then my shimming will be off a bit. I figure once I get her back on the rack again on the 6th, that will show up. If I am out of spec, I'll play with it there. Thanks.
