Best method to clean a painted pad deck without damaging the broach markings the pad was painted over with Chevy orange paint

Agree 100% with the recommendations in posts 2 and 3 above but do have an additional suggestion along those lines. Cut and fold a clean rag in the shape of the pad and fit it on there, saturated with the solvent. Let it soak on there for a day or so - at least overnight. That will soften up the paint before you start the manual
rubbing, both making it easier and faster.

hard to get all the paint out of the characters, try one of those dental scrapers you can get at the swap meet... don't scratch the pad.

Acetone and toothpicks to get the paint out of the letters. A guitar string can be useful for that too. If you are careful even a straight pick like from harbor freight set. I'd soak it with acetone and try a toothpick first. Maybe brake cleaner or brake fluid could do it.
