Thanks Leif, here in Arizona it's like living in a Rock Quarry and most of us have Safelite on speed-dial because windshields take a beating. If I get a big enough rock chip after all this hassle, time to sell the car.

Well done, I did my 63 roadster a few years back. Can not ship CRL to Hawaii, so 3M sealant was used. I used the "dum dum" putty on the upper trim and sparingly on the sides. My lower trim does not sit flush against the body. My Corvette Rubber gasket split at the r/h lwr corner; Patched with some aviation fillet sealant. 63's are a different animal, clip systems totally different and lower moulding is "one year only", just as messy though. You did good!
Aloha,
Rene'

I wasnt asking about the supplier to be critical, I was just curious if it was a corvette shop or a glass parts supply......
We never bought new clips from the dealer ( no such thing as restoration suppliers then) but from Glass parts and tool suppliers......
I don't know if any are still around but the catalogs were as thick as big city phone books with every clip or tool you could imagine....

I didn't take your question as being critical about the supplier, my response was to say that as time goes by, we're left with a diminishing number of vendors for our cars and
that's not a big surprise. When I bought the clips for my 65 Coupe a good 15 years ago, they were identical to the Taiwanese versions I just bought for the lower roadster trim. Factory style clips had been listed as Disc for a long time by then.
Yes indeed there used to be a lot more competition and choices back years ago but there's not enough demand from consumers for someone to tool up and make those original style trim clips anymore.
Back in the late 70's, I was in need of some clips for a 57 Chevy Hardtop and was told that a local guy had this 'clip truck' similar to what we still see today as Mac Tools or Matco or Snap-On.
This Clip Guy used to make regular stops at the body shops and supplied them with whatever they needed and he'd sell to anyone who wanted the products. I wound up buying a lot of those Oval Head Tapping Screws that we still use for interior trim. Pic attached.
The company that supplied the screws and clips and is still in business today was Auveco and I still have the box end that I kept with the screws. Another pic attached.
When I entered 1966 Corvette, the only item that popped up was a Rubber Bumper. They do offer metal clips that look similar to what I got from Corvette Central (Paragon) but not exactly the same animal and their on-line catalog does not cross reference as to what year the application was. You'd think our best bet for this hardware would be the Vendors we have right now like Corvette Central and Zip.

Thanks LP - In the end, after seeing the top and side pieces pulling in to make decent contact to the glass gasket, I decided to forego the addition of strip-caulk which was more along the lines of my usual 'caulk it until it oozes out everywhere' approach because
I hate leaks but these cars were never very water tight to begin with and since I used 2/3ds of the CRL tube this time compared to about 1/3 of a tube last time I replaced a Coupe windshield, I'm not expecting much in the way of leaks...fingers definitely crossed.
And, I did put a dollop of more sealant in that upper corner where the glass gasket split open.

Mike,
This was very painful for me to watch but I commend you for your perseverance to see it to the end.
It looks great all buttoned back up.
Thank you for sharing this project with us.

Thanks Marshal, I've spent a fair amount of time looking at the older threads and YouTube Videos on Windshield replacement and they were very helpful but since the majority of them dealt with
Coupes, there were a few new things to discover for this Roadster and hopefully some of the text and pics from this thread will help someone else who has the misfortune of having to replace a Roadster Windshield.
I now only have the inside trim to attach and to 'clean off' the new sealant that got squeezed out along the top edge of the stainless trim
and I can finally call this job Done. I have a tendency to buy parts and then wait till I can finally get to the job but was a bit surprised to find I bought this new windshield '2' years ago.
For that reason and I'm not getting any younger, I need to speed up the process a bit.
