I'm major underwater with my '66. It didn't have a jack when I bought it. I have no intention buying the correct jack for the '66.
Does anyone know of a readily available sissors jack that will fit in the jack compartment? It will probably never be used because I have road service,
but it would be nice to have one just in case.
Thanks, Captain Bud
Scissor jacks were used in numerous vehicles in the 70s & 80s & beyond. The junk yards used to have piles of them. You might want to check your local salvage yard for one. I have one up on the shelf I think was a C3, that is almost identical to the one in the C2. Don't forget a board or plate to attach to the foot of the jack as they will roll over.
I'll second the idea of using a C3 factory jack but they are a bit longer and will fit but at an angle.
I've bought aftermarket scissors jacks but I still feel that GM built them better/stronger.

Will that fit under the frame when a tire is flat?

NO. At least not on our '62. My wife and I drove her '62 down to Corpus Christi for the first "Vettes and Jets on the Lexington" Corvette display and on the way home had a flat tire (left rear) on I65. All I had was an hydraulic bottle jack and it was too tall to fit anywhere to enable jacking up the rear. I looked along the fence beside the interstate and found an old fence post and a small piece of wood. I fashioned a lever that would fit under the frame, and managed to pry up the car enough to get the bottle jack under the frame. Now I carry a scissor jack.

As I expected. I thought that ought to be flagged in this thread for anyone who might be thinking a bottle jack could be the solution. Thanks for confirming. I carry the factory scissor jack in mine.

Going by memory, it flexed when I was using it, and in the process boogered up the threads. Looking at both jacks, the C3 jack uses thicker material and is 50% heavier. Also the end block that the threaded rod goes through and pulls on is about 20% thicker/deeper on the C3 part.
