Default Offset hood release?

Hi all and happy new years. I noticed on my 1960 that the driver side hood release female hood latch is offset to the fiberglass such that it misses one screw hole completely. Has anyone heard of this before or was this possibly a hack to get this latch in? Thanks, Justin

(please ignore the zip tie)

The right and the left latches are different. Looks like you have a passenger side latch on the driver's side.

1960c1az,
Attached is a photo of the drivers latch on my 61, I do not know if 60’s and 61 latches are the same from the factory. It appears the one installed on your car is the same as mine, however #1 it’s too close to the master cylinder, #2 the outboard mounting hole has no fiberglass behind it. According to the corvette central catalog the latches are the same from mid 59 till 62.Also there is a bolt head under the latch the appears to be holdind something inside the car. Try measuring the distance from it and compare to how much the male pin is offset to the female latching mechanism. Possible the female latch os too far outboard. Good luck. Compare the position of the slotted hole for thr hood release cable in the pictures yours looks offset to me. In any case I hope this helped. Let us know what you determine.

Looks like you might have the wrong latch.

Leo, thanks for the details and the picture. This helped me see that I have 2 passenger side latches. Upon first look at corvettecentral for the proper 1960 latches, they looked the same. Now it’s apparent the driver side is slightly different with the screw plate inverted leftward versus the passenger side. Thanks!
