I installed a tkx 5 speed and now my reverse back up lights don't work I connected the 2 wires on the piglet to the tkx so where does the power come from under the dash cuz I have no power to the wires when I tested trying to back track thanks for any help here . This is in a 1965 corvette .

on a '66 (I assume it's the same as a '65) the b/u switch has a light green and a purple wire. the purple wire goes to the ignition switch. the light green goes to the back up lights. did your car have back up lights originally?

The power comes from the fuse box to the connector by the master cylinder on the pink wire and on the other side of that connector goes to the reverse switch on the tranny. It should always have 12v on it with key on. The green wire in that connector goes to the reverse switch on the tranny and to the rear of the car to the reverse lamps sockets. When you connect that green and pink wire together that connects 12v to the reverse lamps. That's what the reverse light switch on the transmission is supposed to do. It connects the pink and green wires at the transmission switch together that are coming from that connector together when the transmission is put into reverse. Wires shorted together in reverse, not shorted in any other gear.

That's probably black with pink. The power comes from the pink circuit. GM counts a black wire with a colored stripe as the the color of the stripe. The only thing you would need to get under the dash for would be if the top fuse in the box marked 10 A B/U/Gauges was blown. If your fuel gauge and temperature gauges work, the fuse is good. It's easy to test your back up lights by bypassing the transmission switch. All you need to do is unplug the connector I showed you in my picture and short the two wires in the connector that go back to the dash (NOT the two that go to the transmission) together with key on. The backup lights should come on. Now all you have to do is figure a way to make your new transmission short those two wires together at the connector down there when you put the car in reverse. It should have a switch on it, but a different connector is needed for your car wiring at the transmission.

Thank you I will look into that I didn't know there was a fuse for the backup lights.

as I said, the same fuse feeds the fuel gauge and the temperature gauge so unless they're both out, you don't have a fuse problem. If your new transmission reverse switch provides a ground to work the reverse lights and you've got it connected it will short out and blow that fuse. It has 12 V on it anytime the key is on. It has to be an open/close switch, not a grounding switch to work correctly. At no point is that pink and green circuit grounded, except in the rear sockets after the bulbs.

PS The fuse is also the source for the voltage on the parking brake warning light on the dash.
