Hi all,
I have a quick question about window adjustment.
I was able to assemble the doors completely and have working power windows.
I just recently had the top put on and the windows do not line up (i assembled the doors with no top frame)
Can i fully roll the window up, then loosen all adjusting bolts until i and fit the side glass to the top frame potentially?
or do i have to do small adjustments and retry small adjustment and retry?
Thank you
Russ
If the top frame was put on the car without the doors or windows installed, then you might not be able to adjust it out. The best benchmark for adjusting the windows is the hardtop. The soft top frame is first adjusted to the installed windows, using the hard top as a measurement reference. If you don't have a hard top, then the windows are installed, rolled up, and adjusted to about midpoint of the adjustment range, THEN the hard top frame is installed to match the rolled up windows. If the top frame was installed without the windows being installed, then the frame could be too high or low at the to rear of the glass, or too short/long (header adjustment) at the angle at the rear of the glass. You can surely try to adjust the glass to "fit" the frame, but with the fabric and pads installed on the frame, you'll not be able to make any adjustments to the top frame.
Section 1B of your GM Chassis Service Manual has both window adjustment and folding top adjustment instructions. I have found the General very helpful with these old cars.
Hmm ok thank you
i have an unrestored hardtop but it’s pretty rough and I’m not sure would help
the doors and windows I just assembled and made go up and down, at this point they definitely don’t seal to the top frame
I’ll play around with it and see what I can come up with
thank you guys
