Default Light Problem

On a 63 Coupe, lights work fine on low beam, when I switch to high beams only the passenger side works. I replaced both the headlamp swicth and the dimmer switch. Same uissue. Any assistqnce/advice is greatly.

Check the connector on the front left grill/fender area. Might be a loose wire, or corrosion. Dennis

you should have asked before you changed either the headlight switch or the dimmer, neither of those will cause one side to be out and not the other. Check those connectors coming out of the side that doesn't work behind the headlights. There's a plug that gets corroded. There's one at the headlights and another one in the line about a foot away. Check both.

Sounds to me like 2 burned out bulbs. The low-beam bulb actually has dual-filaments: one for low, one for high. The high-beam bulb just has one. That your driver low beam operates fine but doesn't brighten means its high-beam filament is burned out - you know the dimmer is working since the passenger side is fine in both modes. The driver's high beam bulb is burned out too.

An easy check is to swap bulbs side to side and test.
