I have to pull it apart again and send the speedo SOMEWHERE for calibration. Where?
What is a good place to send a speedo to get it calibrated. I do not want the speedo cosmetically restored since it would not match the rest of the instruments, but I need it calibrated. Where can I get that done?
Most (if not all) of the guys who restore the gauge clusters also calibrate them as well as part of the restoration process. You could send the speedometer to one of them and ask to have it calibrated only with nothing else done to it.
We recently took a gauge cluster to a restorer and had the tachometer re=calibrated. It had been reading exactly half of the actual rpm.
Also, while you are waiting to decide what to do, you could change the colored plastic gear in your transmission to another color and ratio which would force your speedometer to read higher. A temporary adjustment to be sure. C.J.
