As I said in my post above "GM often moved production in and out of plants", so you really need to know a time frame to know what was being built at a plant. Some examples are, Baltimore MD made full size Chevrolet's until 1968 when production of GM A-bodies (Chevelle, Monte Carlo, etc) started there, then in the 80's till the plant was closed in the 2000's they made Astro Vans and GMC Safari Vans there. Janesville WI built Chevrolet trucks and full size cars well into the 70's, they started building J-cars (Chevy Cavaliers, Pontiac Sunbird, etc) in the 80's and built Suburbans before closing in the late 2000's.

The Firebird is a good example of how GM moved production around, during it's life it was built at Lordstown OH, Norwood OH, Van Nuys CA & St Therese Quebec.

Yup, which is why I asked which years.

Seems it would take some effort to compile the list, but it would be neat to have it all in one place.

Like I said, it would be nice to have it all in one place. Because when I need to figure one out, I have to go to Wikipedia and look it up, and the results are not always conclusive.

Well when you have the casting number of a block you know when they where cast and the casting date will tell you exactly. The suffix code in the lime book tells you what year (s) it was used and in what car line. Knowing all that you just need google the year and model of car assembly plant and your find out. I have a few books with all this and after a while you will memorize the popular ones.

Thanks to everyone for all of the feedback. There's some good information here. Now I just have to start doing my homework.

Thanks again.

This page you posted is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Now all I have to do is figure out how to find the same pages to cover from about 1960 through 1989.

Thanks for posting this.
