I Noticed tachometer not moving.
I checked if cable was disconnected from generator, looks OK.
Where or what could be the problem?
Generator is a few years old, as new rebuilt.
Thank you.
I'm a little out of my element here as I haven't worked on a generator tached car in 40 years! And, I don't know the year to year changes for them.
Pull on the generator end of the cable -- if the cable is broken, part of it will slide out. You'll then have to remove the cluster to get the other half out and slide a new one in.
If you don't get a section out, we'll assume it's in one piece, so try chucking the end of the cable to a reversible drill and seeing if the needle moves. (I don't know which way the drill needs to turn to make that happen - I think counterclockwise.) If the needle doesn't move, it's time to remove the cluster to investigate further, if it does move, then the issue has to be in the generator's cable drive.
