Default Wire Identification Needed

Can someone tell me where these two white wires are coming from on Driver side kick panel? 1966 Coupe with power windows.
Why would one wire go from white to green and the other is white to white? Thank you.
Steve

The switch at the door jamb. For courtesy lights.

That appears to be someone's handiwork. You have multiple things going on there. Someone has spliced a white wire to a green and another white to the white. There's a splice in the red wire at the upper right.
It appears you have power windows as you have two circuit breakers.
Might be someone rewired a power window motor if your car has them. That black ground wire suggests that. But...
Powerglide car?
The courtesy lamp switch is fed by the black and white wire with a bullet connector on the end (2nd photo).
What year are you working on? That will help us out.

Hi Dave,
1966 Coupe with Power Windows and Powerglide. I actually re-did the red splice you see. It is for the power windows. It was a mess, I did a proper splice. My main concern is the white to green splice.
Thank you.
Steve

This is the circuit breaker for the power windows. Not sure what the other breaker is for.

Do the white wires go into the door through the power window conduit? If so, trace them to see where they go. Is it possible that they are speaker wires put in by a previous owner? Also, I would completely cover the connection of the circuit breaker. The connection is live all the time. I got a rubber cover from NAPA that covers the entire connection. Cheap insurance. Jerry

Steve,

Here are the PW sheets from my '65 AIM.
I believe you are probably looking at the power window motor wires (dark green and blk with white stripe in my case). They pass trough the grommet in the pillar and the out through the conduit attached to the door. Looks like someone has done some rewiring. BTW that breaker on the pillar is for the headlights. The one you have dangling is the PW breaker and the red feed comes from the bottom of the fuse panel.

As Jerry points out above, it's a good idea to protect (insulate) them as best you can to avoid shorting the hot wires.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for being so helpful and providing the excellent illustrations. I need to pour over this tomorrow with the car and try to determine exactly what is going on. Everything is working so it must not be too bad out of kilter.
The circuit breaker mounted behind the kick panel on Driver side should be for power windows. Thats what the lead from the breaker going into the fuse box says.

Both breakers clip into the pillar. See the note highlighted in yellow on A31 Sht 1 above about mounting the PW breaker in the lower hole.

The red wires for the headlights are part of the dash harness; loop connectors in the 2nd photo in post #3.
The power for the PW breaker comes off the fuse panel as shown below.

So that solves that mystery. Someone had the headlight circuit (red wires) plugged into the power windows fuse location, lower right, marked "windows"!
Thanks!
