has anyone ever listed the size bolts corresponding to the part numbers in the AIM?

A GM parts and accessories catalog would list the bolt sizes next to the part number.

I frequently use this fastener bible (attached). Not sure who created it but they did a fantastic job.

The sizes of some hardware was listed in the various yearly editions of the "Corvette Chassis and Body Parts Catalog", but most hardware was found in the "GM Standard Parts Catalog". Most of the hardware listed in the Chassis and Body Catalog was more of a specialty part, or ones unique to the Corvette. Very little trim screws, and general fasteners were included in the Parts Books.

Unfortunately, the Standard Parts Catalog is not really designed to be used to look up the size of a nut, bolt, or screw, but instead it was meant to be used to find the part number for a particular piece of hardware. The Standard Parts Catalog was designed to be used by a dealer's parts department, so it assumed the mechanic had the bolt he needed to replace and thus knew the size and type of bolt it was. Hardware in the Standard Parts Catalog was listed by the type of hardware, so if a mechanic needed a US Standard thread, sunken hex head, black phosphate, captive washer, bolt, he needed to find that type of bolt in the catalog, go down the list of bolts under that heading looking for the size he needed, and he would find the part number to order. It's just about impossible to find a bolt's size in the Standard Parts Catalog with just a part number, or without knowing exactly what type of bolt you were looking for.

The now defunct Paragon Corvette's catalogs used to contain a chart at the back of the catalog showing many of the standard pieces of hardware used in Corvettes with a description of the part and it's size(s). Paragon also used to make a roughly 2'x3' wall chart showing all the same hardware, descriptions and sizes as were found in the back of their catalogs. If you can find one of those wall charts or old Paragon catalogs, they were very useful and worth holding onto.

Hello BarkingR,

I came across the link you posted on the NCRS Discussion Board for the Fastener lists and descriptions.

I'd think it would be useful and interesting for restorers on the C3 forum too. Going down the Head Markings and Descriptions rabbit hole can be a LOT of fun!!!

Regards.....

Thanks Alan, I'm not remembering posting to the NCRS forum any docs that aren't posted above.
I looked through my posts from the last year and the only additional doc I can find is the one below.

For anyone looking for fasteners but wanting more selection and quantity choices than Corvette vendors offer: AMK Products. They have a $30 minimum order, but shipping is quite reasonable and quick. A nice touch is the personal thank you note on the receipt.
