That's tough to put them away. I got a couple out today. I always drive year round. I just look for opportunities when the roads are clear and dry. Some winters cooperate, others don't. You have tough winters in Illinois.

I grew up in Mass! The winters were much worse there.
But it feels like winters in general aren’t near as bad as they used to me.
We've been fortunate to not have any threats of early season snow or ice here in the mid-Atlantic region, so no salt has yet been applied to the roads. I took the '63 out for a run today, to meet up with a few other members of the Loose Lug Nuts Gang. Tom Austin is back in town for the T-day weekend, so Tom S (Sky65), Dennis (BlueStripe67), and I were were able to get together with TA for a nice lunch. It was good to see the guys again as always. And of course, it's always good to get the antique out of the garage and turn some wheels. It was only around twenty miles round-trip for me, but that beats the heck out of zero miles. Temperature here is hovering in the mid-30s F, with blustery winds. Not ideal cruising weather, but good enough to go out and do it. Here's hoping for a few more outings before that door has been nailed shut until spring rains have flushed the roads clear of brine.
The #1 reason I moved to Dallas, Texas 53 years ago. Grew up in Rhode Island...six months of snow from October through April...couldn't wait to get away from all that crap!
Drove mine every day to school, BU, in Boston. Best car I ever had in snow (went north ever weekend to ski).
When I got my first front wheel drive car in 1980 that became the Best. However today is different Vet is always
in garage unless perfect outside.

My 65 was my daily driver in the early 70's. Commuted from Needham to BC, even in the snow. It did fine. No snow for it these days.
My '59 was my DD through winter of 67-68, I picked up an old Corvair for 68-69 so the '67 BB could stay in the garage, then drove the Vette 69-70, snow and all.
Blizzard 78, I bought this car in Irie, Pa. sight unseen. I wanted a Goodwood/Saddle small block car and through a friend of a fried of a friend I found out about this this one. Being an air traffic controller, I rode the jump seat from Houston, Cleveland, then Erie. Had cash with me ($3,500), did transaction, and drove back to Cleveland to spent the night. It had stared to snow pretty good by this time, but luckily, I found a parking spot beside the hotel right by the lobby and next to the street. The next morning, I found out why that spot wasn't taken, the car was covered with about two feet of snow all the \way back to the gas cap from the street snow removal equipment.
A friend had flown to Cleveland we met and drove non-stop to Houston. We never got above forty the snow was so bad, and it lasted all the way to Little Rock. Then it turned to black ice. I found that Posi track and ice makes a C2 a handful to keep under control. Anyhow, fun trip for a couple of young guys, the car performed flawlessly except we couldn't get it warm inside, we even put cardboard in front of the radiator.
Although I love my 67 coupe this was probably my favorite Corvette of the five C2s I've owned.

One of my favorite pictures that I took of my brother's red/red '67 L79 coupe that he still has. It was buried after a North Dakota blizzard. Winter 1972.
OK this is a dumb question, but do they announce when they are using salt on the roads or do you just know it by the weather? I have never lived in an area where salt has been an issue except for ocean spray.

you see the trucks out on the road dumping salt and sand. You can also see the white color on the roads from the salt and then it gets all over your car. Snow doesn’t hurt your Corvette, but salt sure does.
