I have a 67 or 68 Corvette 327 SB engine with this engine stamp: VO828B4 and the Block Casting #: 3814678.
I've looked in the nastyZ28 and the Lime book references and can not find the "B4" suffix mentioned in either.
I've event asked AI to track it down with no results. I'm hoping one of you engine stamp guys can tell me the meaning and your source of information for this puzzle.
The previous owner said the donor was a 1968 Corvette with a TH350 transmission.

J - Welcome to the Corvette Forum. I didn't find that casting number but found something close...3914678 and it refers to a 1968 casting for either a 302/327 or 350.

The TH350 wasn't even around in 1968, and not in Corvettes till a decade later...so it could be that the engine is from just about anything, besides a Corvette.
A partial VIN would sure help.
Also, a location would help, are you in Canada? They put strange numbers on things up there.
The Bx suffix engines in the late 60s were six cylinders.
One more code request: what is the block's casting date? (I believe it to be on the upper side of the transmission mounting flange - maybe passenger side, opposite the casting number.)
A pic from each side of the engine without the air cleaner may help narrow down things too.
There is a B4T in the Lime Book but it's an '86 engine — the casting date may help here. Thinking it's a mis-stamp, here's the entire B-suffix listing.

by the late 70's the configuration of the stamp pad changed on SB casting where they got shorter. so by 86 it certainly would be the smaller pad.
Of course, NWM is right about the pad shape -- I had overlooked that for some reason.

Chevy sold engines for lots of different things...not just Corvettes, not just cars, not just trucks.
I wondered about marine use... but didn't do any digging for numbers in that realm.
