I have a 1965 corvette that had a very tired 327 300hp engine. I have the GM side exhaust. I put a new 400ci Blueprint engine in and the GM sound side pipes are extremely loud. Does anyone have experience or suggestions to get a quieter exhaust for my application?
Thanks
Tim
High-Flow has several options with smaller diameter inner core ( closer to original) and ceramic packing. New side pipes might quiet it down some if your old ones are rotted out inside. But there is a rule of thumb - large diameter core/low restriction/more power/very loud vs small diameter core/high restriction/less power//quieter. And an engine with high compression and lots of cam tends to produce louder exhaust.
My friend recently swapped out the original sound pipes that were on his car for the Hi-Flo Quiet pipes, Made a nice difference / reduction in sound. You still very much know you have side pipes, but just toned down a bit. His engine is a 327 built to L79 specs.

I've got Chambered's 2-1/2" Vettepacks on the 65 L76. I couldn't be happier with them - and they let the engine breathe better than the aftermarket sidepipe mufflers that were on the car. Here's a link to my install post.
