When I closed the hood on my '66 I noticed the "Corvette" emblem on the corner of the hood was loose. I lifted it off with my fingers and find no fasteners besides the pins on the back of the casting that go into the holes on the hood. The pins go in/out of the holes in the hood freely. How are these things supposed to be fastened so they don't fall off? I'd like to be able to go to the hardware store today (Sunday) and grab some generic clips that will do the trick, assuming I can get behind the pins to put them on. Thanks.

It probably uses the speed nuts that are used on the side flags, etc in variuos sizes. Various vendors sell a kit of all the speed nuts that you need. These are the thin pressed nuts that thread themselves onto the pins. Check your local auto parts outfits first.
Paragon catalog shows the emblem with speed nuts for $36. 66 owners correct me if this is not the case!
