Don't get me wrong I enjoy working on my vette but I'd like to drive it a little also. My winter projects stretched into July. I brought my car to a mechanic to do a little fine tuning and adjustments to all my winter projects I've done(ie: power steering conversion, Under car exhaust, new clutch, dual master cylander etc...) I picked it up today and it seems 10X better for $917.56. I figured I was all set for awhile. WRONG!!:banghead:
Problem #1 On the way home grinning from ear to ear someone pulls up next to me and tells me my brake lights don't work. After an hour of checking wires with a multi tester I still can't find the problem. I've checked the switch, grounds, etc...No luck Going to be tough getting a sticker tommorro so I can cruise Saturday.
Problem #2 While I was under th dash checking the wiring I felt the drivers seat back rest slip. The bolts that the back pivots on fell out. I just got through a few weeks ago putting new bolt in and cranking them down tight.
Why are the bolts so short. It seems like it only catches a few threads. Do you think "Locktite" would help. I was wondering if everyone else has the same problem with their seats. Or am I just a dink.
Well I'm all ears if anyone has any tips on Problem #1 or #2
PS: Looking forward to Carlisle getaway to clear my head.
Just a thought on prob #1, check the rear harness connection. I believe it is behind the driverside kick panel. I just layed my harness in recently and that is where it connected at. Or - dont get mad - maybe a fuse? :flag
You may not want to hear it but I was blowing fuses for the brakes when I first got mine about 4 months ago. Well needless to say I rebuilt the steering column and I haven't blown a fuse in since. I guess it was shorting out when I used the turn signals. Not saying this is your problem but if it's the fuse try replacing it then don't move the car but use the turn signals then see if it blows the fuse... Dave..
I know you said you checked the brake light switch, but I had replaced mine awhile back and over time, the lock nut which holds that plastic part tight so the plunger can extend allowing contact to be made and the brake light to go on worked its way loose. Just a simple check to see if that switch is snug. My .02. Worth a double check.
I put the multi tester across the switch and pressed the brake pedal several times and the switch works fine. I also checked the fuse (first thing I did) The blinkers and tail lights work so the ground should be good.
Well tommorro is Saturday so hopefully I'll get Problem #1 & 2 cleared up by the end of the day
The blinkers work and the tail lights work so it can't be the bulbs can it?
Also I have six tail lights not 4 and I doubt it would be all six that are blown.
