Default shift levers

I just installed a new M22 in the Vette and, while finishing the process, discovered that my old linkage would not bolt up to the tranny. My shift levers on the linkage are too small to fit into the side cover.

I'm replacing an old M20.

Where to I find larger levers and or is there a way to safely and correctly modify the old levers?

Thanks.

motro,
I've never owned an M22, so I'm shooting from the hip here. :yesnod:
So if I understand this right, your shift levers, where their slotted, won't fit over the shifter shafts on the M22, correct? I would have thought they would of been the same, but you would know, your looking at it. :yesnod: Here's what I would do, I would call Scott. I would think he would know if the shifter shafts were diff. and maybe he has them or knows where to get em. Also you might call Long Island Corvette 18004666367. They carry a wide slection of parts for the Muncie. Besure you say M22, so you don't get stuck with the same parts you have now. Now another question comes to mind, will the shifter linkage be the same? I would guess yes, but now thats a guess. BTW, I bought my levers and linkage from Long Island and all three fit like a glove. (M21) Hope this helps. Maybe some of the other guys will have some input.
Craig :seeya

If the rectangular hole is a larger one, use the later model Muncie levers. The forks that receive bolts (instead of having stud ends) require levers with larger holes. :lurk:

You have it exactly right. The M20/M21 levers have thinner slots than the M22 levers.

I'm calling Scott this morning to get the proper levers and possibly rods sent down.

I don't have to tell you how frustrating it is to get everything put in the car; new clutch kit, tranny, etc., and then discover that three 21/2"X1" levers are holding up the whole project.

Thanks again for your help.
