Default 66 power brake problems

I got my master cylinder back from the rebuilder and installed it and blead the brakes, we took it for a ride and I noticed I still have to much pedal travel, feels like theirs no rear brakes. when I got home I took a look at things , master cyl. is full , no fluid leaks, I measuerd the pedal travel with the engine running ( w/ vacume) all the way up is about 4 1/2 / 5 inches, pedal goes down 2 1/2, 3 inches to where the pedal is about 1 inch from the carpet. I took the car out on a back road and hit the brakes hard and only the front brakes locked up, no rear brakes. My front and rear wheel bearings were done about 3000 miles ago so excessive rotor runout shouldn't be a problem. I read some where about residual pressure springs could create a problem, are thoes the springs behind each piston? Pumping the pedal does'nt help any either.
Anyone got any suggestions about whats wrong?

Thanks , Gene :banghead:

This may be obvious but...did you bench bleed the mc? I would first suspect air somewhere in the system. try bleeding it a couple more times and see if you have any change.

I did bench bleed the mc and bled the system. I am going to bleed them again with a pressure bleeder and see what happens. :banghead:
