After removing the seats, console, and other hardware, I just started ripping the carpet and jute out. I then used a wire brush on a drill to clean off old jute and adhesive from the fiberglass floor. You can see some pics on my website.
I agree with Ominous. Seats, seat belts, console, kick panels, quarter panels behind the seats and sill plates. All my carpet pieces came out easily and intact. Most of the jute in the front compartment of my 65 was missing. The rear looked like a glue storm hit it. I have used two cans of 3M adhesive remover but I am down to some pretty clean fiber glass. There are older threads that caution you about dry fitting (carpet bolted down at seat bolts and gas pedal, etc.) everything before cutting and gluing, especially in the console area. The ol' "measure twice, cut once" advice applies here. Send me you e-mail address and I'll send a word file containing one of the previous threads.
