Vettes passed down
My son (he's 32) and I (I'm 53) have restored a couple of 1st generation Camaros and we are more than half through restoring a '64 Corvette convertible. There is no doubt that one day I will hand the keys over to him.

My 60 was my fathers purchased new, passed to me when he passed on. No children for me yet but me nephew has me locked in on getting him a vett. Although he is only 8 he is very respectful of the cars and enjoys car shows and cruises. I think his highlight so far is picking up my 03 @ the museum delivery and taking the first ride in the car. I will probally get a 74-82 shark in need of resto/ repair in a few years so we can build the car together. Tommy
Passing the car on when it's, 'time' .. ? .. That one's going to be a tough one, for me .. The dilemma .. ?... Three daughters who ALL want the car .. ! . . Maybe my new grandson can be my 'out' ..

My Vette was officially passed down to me from my dad. we got it when i was 10 and restored it. She has sat since 94 and needs lots of work but he said he was putting my name on the title so i can get it insured. He told my daughter it was his car and he gave it to me and i will give it to her. I want to get a 96CE in a couple years so i have one to pass down to my son too
My father bought his first Corvette the day I was born in 1967 (figured my mother wouldn't complain too much) It was a 1965 and then in 1968 he bought the 1967 convertible 427/435 that he gave me as a wedding present a year and half ago. I'm in the process of doing a complete body off restoration to hand down to my son one day who is a year old. Dad and I are spending more time together in the garage than we have ever in are lives and he lives in Florida and I'm in Chicago. This car will never leave the family.
My dad bought his 67 in 75, and kept it to his death in 97. My brother originally drove it to college in the late 70's. After dad's passing, mom eventually sold it to me and I enjoy it every day.
I bought my 64 from my dad who bought it for 10K in '86 when I was 18 and in the Marines. I came home it was sitting in the garage. He kept in the garage, never drove it, started piling crap on it and finally sold it to me 2 years ago for 12K when I moved to L.A. and had a home with a garage. He worked on it off and on. In 18 years drove it less than 4 or 5 times less than 100 miles. Needs some work but that what a "toy" to me is all about....
Last thursday, my best friend took delivery of his dads 77. His dad passed away about a month ago. The vette was willed to his brother and he was going to sell it. In his heart he knew his dad would be pi$$ed about it. He was to get an 00' Dodge Ram. He told his brother not to sell it and he would give him the pickup instead. His brother was OK with it and shipped the car to FL.
Well I don't have it yet and don't want it anytime soon but some where hopefully many many years from now I will have my dad's for sure. I think this was the coolest day in my life when I went and saw my dad for the first time after I got mine... He was very excited for me and still is. Here is a pic that my sis took for us...
I may be getting older, but there's no way I want to go so far as to start thinking about passing my toy on down. I just want to get it running again.
My wife kept pushing me to have it finished so I could give it to my now 17 year old and her birthday - fat chance!!
I don't know if I'll ever get so feeble to even let her drive it! I couldn't and wouldn't in good conscience give something with this kind of horsepower to a teenager. I got into enough trouble with the anemic cars I had as a teen - well, they weren't all anemic, I did have my 406 tri-power at 18 or 19 years old. Surprised I lived through it too!

since I don't have any kids to hand my 60 down to, I guess I'll have to time things right and sell it right before I croak.
