I figured out how Pete the Ebay con-artist is doing it. I saw a nice C1 with a buy it now price of 20 cents so I sent him an email saying I would like to buy it for 20 cents. Today I recieved 2 emails. One from him that was generic asking for a wire transfer of $3000. and he would pay for shipping bla bla bla. I thought my smart @$$ coments went to waste. The second email was from "ebay" A note saying that My account had been compromised and I needed to update my account within 72 hours or it would be suspended. I thought @#%^ how did he get my password. I clicked the link which took me to the log on screen. I entered my password and it took me to a page that asked for my credit card info with pin number. My SS number and a bunch of other personal info. I thought this isnt right so I loged out and loged into ebay on my own. Of course there was nothing in my account that had been compromised. I went through the contact links and sent a copy of the email to the fraud department. It hit me that, Duuuu, I gave him my ebay password. I changed my password immediatly. I hope this post will give a little heads up to everyone. Luckly the only damage to me was that I have to remember a new password now. Beware the Ebay pages look real but they are missing a back slash after the .com in the address bar as in ebay.com/bla bla bla.
