Switching out the plunger mechanism is the best way to go. This is what I planned on doing, but my donor shifter's plunger assembly is not a straight one, it has the curve to the side and it not easily straightened.

I ended up cutting of the existing handle and drilling holes to mount the new handle to. It worked fine, the offset is not noticible, the only issue is that it is higher than normal because it is not down in the pocket. Can anyone give me a rough dimension from the top of the console to the top of the shifter ball? I would like to get it down to stock height.

The good part is that after I had it apart, cleaned, and readjusted, it shifts much smoother.

Thanks for all of the help
