Default Solved 67 choke problem

I solved the problem noted in a previous post at
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=984923

Turns out that all choke rod clips are not created equal. In the two pics below the correct clip is on the right; I got this today from Ace Fuel Systems in Santa Clara CA. The clip on the left is the one I bought from Long Island Corv. , which has been on my car for months and causing the cold-running problem.

The correct clip has a much larger hole where the choke rod goes through. Evidently the choke rod was binding in this too-small hole, so the carb butterfly was never really closed when the car was cold. There is also a difference in the way the clips are bent, as seen in the lower pic. This likely added to the binding problem.

Thanks a whole bunch for the pic Paul. Staring at it and noticing that your clip was a different color than mine got me thinking whether there were other differences in the clips, and I called Ace. I knew I was on the right track when one of the guys at Ace mentioned that the "same" clips from different manufacturers had different size holes.

Hope this saves frustration for some of you other guys.

You would think that LICS should know this... I'd give them a call and let them know.

Yes, Louie, do other owner's a favor and contact LICS with this information. They should then owe you one.

Why not go to your local auto parts store for that kind of stuff? They are about .25 each. I'll bet LICS charges more plus shipping.

I just checked their web-site. $2.00 for that clip.

I'll be sure to let LICS know about this part. I doubt they will feel that they owe me one, though, but maybe.... The new clips cost $0.25 at Ace, and the local auto stores don't stock them. This was truly an instance of a dinky-a$$ed part causing an inordinate amount of frustation. Ahhhhhh, it was so sweet today to start my car and have it idle smoothly, without me goosing the throttle for the first few minutes.

Louie,
Pleased to be of assistance. I was really stuck on your problem and just put up some pics of Holley parts in the basement hoping that you would notice something.
