FS 1961?? 283 short block 3789935
Was at my Gear head buddys garage today looking at a 283 he has.
The cast number is 3789935 ,, F291,,, Stamped F0630DB.
He is helping me with my 58 and we were looking at this block and from a little research,I think its out of a 1961 Vette.
I'm sure he will sell it. It has pop up pistons and the block looks good to me.
Was not torn the rest of the way down yet, but the oil pan makes me think it was a Vette.

Mark, You are right that the 935 block was used in some very late model 1961 Corvettes, and the late June cast and build dates of the engine support that possible application. But I don't think that it is originally from Corvette for two reasons 1) It should have the serial number derivative stamped on the pad next to the assembly date. 2) The suffix code DB signifies that it was originally fitted to truck with a Powerglide.
Nevertheless it is ostensibly identical to 283 engines fitted to Corvettes in the day and certainly can be used.
Mike
