I've always enjoyed this quote by Larry Shinoda "My favourite of the cars is the 1973. I really like the soft nose. The soft rear on the 1974 doesn't thrill me as much as the earlier rear-end treatments. In fact it reminds me of the (Infiniti) J-30 which in turn seems to have been styled after a steaming dog turd."

I'm a little different. I also haven't owned a C3 since the early 90s, but my 77 had an 80-82 cover on it when I bought it in 1988. I didn't like the look of it and found the correct used cover for it for about $40, had it painted, and put it on. I liked the original look much better.

Sorry to say, I assume that the updated cover indicates a previous wreck. I know that's not always the case now, but it pretty much was 15-20 years ago. Certainly time can cause the originals to crack and break, but I suspect many with the updated covers have been wrecked.

I thought about putting a 82 rear bumper on my 81 but decided I like the 81 better.
