Never seen it, definitely dont think there is a kit either.... Interesting idea. Youd have to do some serious modifications I think...keep us posted if you undertake it.
At times I've thought about how cool this would be on my 71. However since gullwing doors hinge up near the center of roof, the door needs a frame to support the lower half. C3s have frameless windows, so there's no really way to connect the door to the hing on the roof without adding in a big frame. And I'm not sure how you'd do that. Scissor doors are another issue entirely. Those hinge in the same place as regular doors and as a result every ricer on earth has them in his civic. Personally I think they look terrible on cars that weren't designed for them (IE anything without a raging bull on the front of it). If someone came up with a good way to do gullwings I'd be interested.

I saw the gull wing door kit at Corvette Expo in Knoxville this weekend. The kit was around $1100. The doors open up like normal for about 20 degrees and then they lift straight up. There were two gas charged shocks to keep the doors from flying up and one to keep it from falling down. Pretty ingenious setup. It bolted in exactly where your stock hinges go. If you want to go back to stock, just reinstall your stock hinges. Sorry I did not have my camera with me when the weather was good and today the weather was bad and I had my camera and the vendor was not at his car. Go figure.

I think what you are talking about are the scissor doors they open from the regular hinge location, where gullwing doors would hinge from the roof area. There is a big difference in apperance. JMO.

Now that I think about it, you are correct. It was scissor doors and not gull wing doors. Oops. :o
I like the scissor look but have thought about the gull wing. If you were to use the t-tops and middle bar as part of the build I think with some mods it could be done. One guy tells me he is a great welder and can mod anything. Think I am going to drop this idea past him and see what he says, he may be full of hot air. Ill get back on after I catch up to him and see what he says.
Before you buy a set, try getting in and out of a Corvette so equipped, and try a rainy day, too. You may find it is a great idea, but not so practical if you drive the Corvette much at all.
they had them at chevy vette fest this past march.... i talked to the guy who sells them for c-5's-there made of steel and he said they were the best made ones out,,,but didnt have them for c-3's-------then there was anothe guy there that did have them for c-3's---but the first guy said that his were made from aluminim and were not as good... i didnt get any of there names cuz i wasnt interested in getting them,,just was lookin-i think there called ''lambo doors''

Spike
I saw them at the Lima swap meet March 26th. It looked really tight
Be neat on a trailer queen where that's all you do with it, but trying to get in and out regularly looked tough. I could be wrong though
saw them in Knoxville this wknd as well; they wouldn't look good on my car, but it looked pretty good. they open about 20" like a regular door, then swing upwards.
if i was gonna do funky doors, i'd use 'em; can't think of a good way to mount gull-wings.
Yea know Im seriously thinking about it... haha... Its fully bolt on, you dont have to hack anything, its a VERY rare mod for a C3, and it IS pretty cool. Hell if you dont like it, put it back and resell the kit on Ebay. I might give this a try in the summer. Ill keep ya poster.
Whats the name of this company with the scissor doors? HAve we determined that?
hahaha am I like the only one who thinks that actually SUITS the Vette? I think thats really cool, It would have to lift up a bit higher or itd be a bit...awkward, but still, I like it...

I can't get off the fence...one time I think it looks really cool (only with rubber bumper c3's) and then I am not sure
I dunno, I mean hahaha I think its almost expected on a rubber bumper, especially one already body-kitted out or w/e, but on a classic, restored NCRS looking chrome bumper... meh... Ive always been a fan of surprising people with my vehicles. Im still pondering...
If you want gull wing doors why don't you just cut the crap and buy a car that was designed and came with them from the factory like I did. That way you have something authentic and not a cheezy custom mod that will cost a lot and probably won't work very well.
