I bought a carpet set from Corvette Central? Maybe Chicago Corvette a few years ago and have zero instructions for install. Most of the edges are not finished,if any. It has a backing pad and is shaped. Are there any online instructions/photos that will help me install and do the edges in the cargo area hide themself? Mine was stripped when I bought it. Any good phots of yours after complete? Thanks
The pieces only fit one place. Have you got an AIM? There are diagrams in there which sho where the seams lay and in what order the carpets go down. I believe the carpet that covers the center bulkhead (steel panel right behind the seats) goes on first, then the rear inner fender carpets (upper edge is tucked under the decklid lip, back/bottom edges hidden by the bottom carpet), then the T-shaped bottom piece. Finally, the rear compartment frame goes in and hides all the cut edges. The front is a bit simpler. The cut edges get hidden by the sill mouldings, center console, and the trim panels that fasten to the door jamb to mask the top hinges. The very front goes up high enough that you can't see the cut edges.
I think the only piece that has piping, or finished edges, is the rear floor piece that's "T" shaped.
You'll want to have some strong, flexible contact adhesive...the AIM shows where to apply it.
It's not real tough if you take your time and measure twice before cutting. Do lots of trial fitting and small trim adjustments until you're satisfied with the fit. Make sure you know where everything goes before you cut anything.
