Default Hedman header tech support is not helpful

Purchased a set of the Hedman side exhaust headers for my 69 vert a month ago. The tech guy at the time told me that Hedman has a set that is a direct bolt on to the factory side exhaust. I get my factory exhaust in today and guess what - the d*mn headers aren't even close. The collector on the header is 3" and the pipe flange is 2 1/2". So I call the tech department at Hedman back today to explain my situation and he tells me the that the aftermarket pipes that I bought from one of the vendors is not factory authorized and that is why the two pieces will not match. So I ask if there is a reducer that I can use for the headers and he tells me these headers were not designed to accept a reducer.

I know other members have used these style headers and maybe can give me some advise on what to do.

The Hedman factory headers do not bolt right up to the factory side pipes....never have. They come out at an angle under each front fender, where as the factory sidepipes finish up into the factory ram horn manifoleds.
You have to cut the pipes and weld on a 2-1/2" to 3" collector onto them for them to fit.
