I always wanted a C3 with the bright red interior. I bought a 1970 BB Coupe in 1992. It was fully optioned and a relatively good buy. It didn't have the original engine, but at the time I didn't mind since I was going to install all aluminum. It had a black interior. I wanted red.
I've since bought all red interior pieces for it. All of the interior parts I bought are repro. The door panels, the seat covers, the carpets fit and look great. The seat belts were redone by Ssnake Oyl. The repro parts I've had a problem with are the "halo" panels (they are above the drivers and passengers head) and also the panels that fit inside the T-Tops. It'll take some work to get them to fit.
I tried to buy red interior parts on E-Bay. All I did was end up with stuff that was too deteriorated to use (even though the auction pictures on Ebay looked good!) I did score a 6500 rpm tach. I always wanted a 6500 rpm tach, but Ebay prices just went through the roof. Then someone was selling a red dash panel that included the speedo and tach. Yep, when I zoomed in I could see a 6500 rpm tach! I bought the entire panel for less than what the 6500 rpm tachs were being sold for!
Also, I bought, on Ebay, what was advertised as a RED C3 Corvette steering wheel. I thought the red interior cars had black plastic steering wheels. The wheel certainly looks like a Corvette steering wheel. I've compared it with my stock black 1970 wheel. Anyone know anything about red Corvette steering wheels? Could it be from a C2? A Camero?
Black exterior/red interior are some of the best looking cars. I'd love to see a Tuxedo Black 69 with a red interior...especially a convertible, but I don't know if there were ever any made. I have seen a lot of 69's and never seen one. Were there any made? Do any forum members have one?
