Corvette Repair in Texas
My C3 CE went through some major repair/resto by the previous owner at the "Largest Vette shop" in the DFW area. The owner can't seem to recall the name of the shop though. After a few google attempts, I figured it may be easier to run it up the flag pole and see what turns out. The question: What are the names of the larger Vette type shops in the DFW area? If you got phone #s great, if not that's cool, I will find a number one way or another. The goal is to contact the shop and find out what did or didn't get done. Best case scenario, they fax or email a copy of the work order and parts list. The car got a lot of new stuff and I want to verify which of the non-visible internals might have been swapped out. (diff, motor, electronic, etc)
Thanks to anyone in the Dallas area who drops their .02 in the bucket.

.....back to google!
I just got my vette painted at JB's Corvette Specialist (http://www.corvettespecialist.net/ - 972-484-0403). They're a great shop too, but I also would'nt call them the "biggest".
My guess would be "Corvettes of Dallas". I've never had work done there, but I drive by it quite bit and the shop looks pretty big for an all corvette shop.

Either he wasn't very "nice" when he went in, the mech monkey was not having a good day/week, or he was not at a top-notch facility. All the "records" are in a storage facility in Dallas, the previous owner is going to retrieve them next time he is back and pass them on to me. In the meantime, I'm trying to arm myself with knowledge to prevent some of the "largest" Vette shops in the phoenix area from hosing me.
Thanks for the info, I will try them all!

JB Corvette Specialist is a small shop and from what I have seen they do good quality work.
Corvette Shop I-35/Royal is car sales only.

I just found out there are two businesses in the I-35/Royal area. One is car sales only one does reliable maintenance.

Vehicle is 1982 Collector Edition Silver/Beige, over 100,000 miles at the time. Owner at the time was Richard (Rick) McKenzie.
The car has new suspension front and back, trailing arms, radiator, heater core, hoses. Lots of new parts visible, its the internals (rear diff, calipers, motor internals, ......) that I need more info on.
Just trying to keep from getting hosed by those who worship the almighty $$$$$$.
Thanks for any input you might have.
VIN is also available if that helps.

Are ya'll the guys on Division?

I can point you in the right direction if it's just general work. There's a guy on the ACE forum that is getting some good work done by a friend with some great prices...
Let me know if you need some links...
BTW, did you hear we are trying to have a crossfire get together in Phoenix at the end of October???
The rear diff pinion seal is leaking- getting worse each time out.
I would like to know if the internals are original or if the "shop in DFW" refreshed it. Someone has been in it at some point, tell-tale signs are on all the bolts. The trailing arms are new and so is most of the rear suspension, so the time to freshen the rear end would have been then.
I don't have the facilites to perform a full service myself and if the internals are fresh(er), I'm not going to have anyone crack it open. I'll have them just swap the seal and fluid. If they are old(er), then I should go through the whole thing (check gear mesh and posi-clutches, etc.)
Engine-
The motor does not run like it has 140,000 miles. The previous owner mentioned "over-hauled" "freshened up". Exactly what that means is up to interpretation. If I can get ahold of the shop, maybe I can find out what was done and save myself from pulling the cam to inspect it, etc.....
I won't even go into the fiasco with the brakes.
DD, any recommendations for differential work. BTW, the windows are working very, very nice now. I think I figured out the rubic's cube adjustments. Only took about 7 times.

Thanks everyone for the Dallas info, no one has recognized the car or owner name yet, but I will keep trying.
