How can you tell whether or not you should use SMC products (fusor), or fiberglass/resin to repair your car body? My car is a 1981.... I want to order some product to do some body repair, but have no clue what to buy.
So why does Ecklers say that everything from mid 73 and back is made from FRP? There is a big difference in the fiberglass from back then compared to my '76. I have used the SMC products (Fusor) from them on my '76 with no issues. Don't want to start a fight, but it should be SMC. My $.02

that is EXACTLY why I asked the question... because I purchased both Eckler's videos on body repair... Al uses 2 completely different methods of repair..and it is a bit confusing over which method to use on my vette. Also, is gelcoat used on both types?
i used resin/matt and duraglass....... so far so good... the trick to the matt is to make sure you don't have it overloaded with resin....sort of lightly squeeze out the resin so the matt is wet... the more matt the better.... strength wise...... make sure to "v" groove the repair area to help in the adhesion and overall contour
Use the tips from above. The stuff you buy at Autozone will work just fine as long as you don't use the "neatly woven" type of mat (looks like fabric). Use 1.5 oz. fiberglass mat with the strands going every direction. I bought some of the resin from Ecklers because it didn't cost me any more in shipping. PM me if you need any more help.
