I would go ahead and flush the radiator real good and refill with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and some demineralized water bought at the grocery store. Probably the next thing I would recommend changing is the rear diff fluid. to do this you will have to suck the fluid out of the diff with a pump that can be had for about $10 or so at AutoZone. Refill with diff additve and some good rear end oil. These two items should kill the better part of the day.
Good luck and welcome to the forum. Seems like a bunch of new corvettes showing up on here the last few days. Glad to have you guys aboard.
Any advice on parts I should change....My list so far:-
- change oil and filter
- new plug leads
- bleed the calipers
Any other checks/changes I should do?
This is the WRONG place to ask that! Here's a small sample of the answers you'll get:
Dual 2 1/2" pipes
Headers
New heads
cam & lifters
intake manifold
roller/roller tip rockers
the list will grow
Before bleeding the calipers I'd recommend getting a set of stainless nipples. Fit them & flush through all the old fluid with new. In fact, unless they're fairly new, I'd also change the rubber brake hoses for some braided ones (any improvement to the brakes is a good thing).
Welcome to the world of C3's
congrats! dont worry, what to check and/or change will present itself to you in short order lol
it is worth the minor frustrations to drive such an extraordinary vehicle though!!!

Now THAT is a loaded question with some of the folks around here. I say, do what you've got planned. Drive around alittle and get a feel for the other areas that may need replaced or upgraded. No need for a full frame off, twin turbo, over-bored, cammed up, aluminum heads, overdirve tranny rebuild just yet.
