Default Winter project done. . .

Just thought I'd give an update as I've been away from the forum for a few months. . .
Couldn't have gotten this far without the forum.

Replaced intake manifold with Edelbrock Performer RPM.
New gaskets.
New valve cover gaskets. Repainted valve covers.
Removed oil pan, painted and replaced with Felpro gasket.
Now it seems only to be leaking from the power steering valve.
No more engine leaks that I can see!!!!! Wooohooo!!!
Sitting for 13 years was not good for the gaskets in that puppy.

New Tires (Dunlop GT Qualifiers- 255-60-15)
4 wheel alignment. Man did it need that. New Shocks.

Feels like a car now instead of a project. Drives so much better.

Now, on to the summer fun.
Gonna replace the wiper motor (or fix if I can)
Replace the power steering valves and hoses.
Paint the engine compartment as best I can with the engine in it.
Replace Clock guts.

Might do headers and the exhaust if I can afford it, if not, then that will be done in the winter.

Maybe next year, I'll get around to getting the radio updated.
I want to keep the AMFMCB, so I'll have to get the internals rebuilt, I guess. I've noticed that ain't cheap.

Right now, I'm stoked that it drives so well.

Later.

Thats a pretty good start on your project list. New intake manifold and repainted valve covers. Sounds like your engine is getting a pretty good cleaning.

Nice job. Looks like you're making real progess.

I just did the power steering valve rebuild myself. Read the Jim Shea papers on corvette faq and it won't be a big deal. I'm enjoying not having power steering oil on the driveway.

How do those new tires fit in your wheel wells? Just a little bigger than the standard recomended size.

Thanks!
Cardboard is keeping the power steering fluid at bay currently.

Tires - That's the standard size for L-82's of '79 I believe.
That is what was on there already.

They fit great. No stick out or rubs anywhere. See pics above of the old ones.

Engine looks way good right now. The breather that is on there is aftermarket chrome. It's all scratched up right now and I want to replace.

1 thing I forgot to add was I need to replace some of the carb gaskets too.
It has a small leak while driving. (Trying to stain my new intake, not cool) That's the 1st thing on the list currently.
