Default BRAC...arrgh...how will this effect your vette project?

well any body else getting squeezed by BRAC...and how will it effect your vette?

not sure how it will effect my vette but the Army base I work on is getting closed...that is if the powers that be have there way, which is likely....so there may not be 16" TTIIs in the near future for my vette!

I was affected by BRAC back in 1994. Had to leave Charleston, SC and move to Ft Bragg, NC. That was a sad day indeed. Don't think Bragg's closing anytime soon. 82nd Airborne and Marines are first to the fight.

There was a big sigh of relief here today. Apparently, this area may pick-up as many as 5000 jobs.

Kings Bay is suppose to be the big winner with the possibility of adding more jobs than any other place in the nation.

Are you GS? Don't they make some attempt to re-position you?

Anyway, here's wishing you luck. Guess life is about to get interesting.

Thats a great shame, I love Fort Monmouth, beautiful base in a nice part of Jersey. My grandmother and grandfather both served out of the base, both memebers of the golf club there still. Thats REALLY gunna hurt Red Bank and Middletown, theyve had a really great run in the last few years but this could send them hurtling back towards the gutter a bit... very sad to hear indeed.

Vette is 99% done. No effect.
If Niagara Falls ARS gets taken out in the BRAC, I will retire. I hit 20 yrs. in July. Ain't worth the time nor effort to find a new home. Between my active duty time and "weekend warrior" time, I have plenty of points to give me a nice little pension check starting at 60 yrs old. I will feel bad for the younger full time techs out there if this happens. I got duty tomorrow. It ought to be interesting.

yeah i think the whole area will take a major hit from this, the ripple down effect will be tremendous......i worry about Asbury Park its just now beginning to get some positive attention and may be cleaning itself up.

Sarge81 well today was the day so if you didn't hear badnews i guess you are ok

On the surface Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville did pretty good - a net gain of over 1500 jobs. However, they are moving several MOS schools to Ft Lee, VA. These are joint service schools so the Marine Corps Detachment will most likely be shut down. It's a shame. After boot camp I started my ground ammo career here as a private; I retired as the Officer In Charge of the school some 20 years later. Hate to see it go.

Well.... the Colonel gave us a pep talk this morning. We will carry on business as usual and be professional about it. We will know this fall the official "hit list." These are strictly recommendations from DOD. Now the politics come into play.

Kind of ironic that the state of Arkansas " Home of the Clintons" have a ton of C-130's slated to go there. So pull up a chair folks, and watch the show.

Aberdeen Proving Grounds/Edgewood Arsenal here in Harford County, Maryland is slated for a net gain of several thousand jobs.

BUT, there will be many divisions transferred to other bases, and more of the Chemical Warfare divisions added.

APG/Edgewood is the largest civilian employer here in my county, about 25 miles North of Baltimore, MD. Chuck
