Default Stalling problems

My stock 1980 is having a problem when it gets hot about , 15 miles , it stalls at stop lights and when I give it to much gas it stalls and after it shuts off the only way I can start it is if I hold the gas pedal down the whole way. I think it has a quadrajet . Anybody had a problem like this and what do you look for ?

I'm no expert, but I think you may need to check the float. It could be stuck, or have a pinhole and is now full of gasoline. When was the last time the qjet was rebuilt?

A rebuild of the qjet could be in order then. Not sure how "comfortable" you are with doing it yourself, but I rebuilt mine and had good results. Took an hour or two. I used old cookie sheets of my wife's to put all my parts.
