Just curious to what some of the forum members think about getting positive feedback on Ebay. To me this is important. It shows me that a person with good feedback could be trusted. The same goes with a seller. I rather purchase from someone who doesn't have alot of negative feedback. Negative feedback translates into unhappy customers.
The reason for me posting this is that I have had to contact the seller (Wilcox Wholesale Corvette Parts) already 3 times now since my April 4 purchase of new leather seat covers for my 73' Coupe. I paid for my purchase right away online and after receiving my seat covers and inspecting them I immediately gave Wilcox a positive feedback yet it is like pulling teeth to get them to reciprocate. Like I said previously I emailed them 3 times and got 3 emails back from them telling me that they don't understand what the big deal is about giving feedback and that when they find the time I will eventually get feedback. Don't you think after 47 days I should of received something? Am I being rediculous? In my last email to them I told them that after contacting them on 3 occasions that I wasn't about to beg them to give me a positive feedback again. Although I didn't have any problems with this vendor with shipping or the quality of the Corvette America seat covers they sold me, back in my mind I am feeling a little pissed off at them for not taking what I asked of them seriously. What do you fellows think? Do I have the right to be mad?
Feedback (FB) is a funny thing on eBay. I buy and sell a lot. Most time I don't have the time to give FB right away. About once a month I sit down and do a mass FB. Granted I don't care that much about it now. My number is over 1200+. Anyone buying from me will see they have nothing to worry about. I remember when I started out FB was every thing! I wanted it right away and couldn't understant why it took so lone for people to give it to me. Now I do. Some people just don't give it at all. It's just a fact of life on eBay. The only solution to the problem would be for eBay to set it up that FB will only be posted when both parties give it. If only one gives it. That FB will go in a "holding cell" till the other person gives it. That is the only fair way I see it.
I agree, feedback is important to give and recieve. I think someone who says they dont have time to write, "Good seller/buyer A+" anc copy/paste it a few times is full of it. After all, it doesnt really matter what you write a that much, all that counts mostly is the count.
As a seller, I always post feedback for the customer as soon as they pay. I think this is the right and fair way to do it. They upheld their end of the deal by paying, what is this 'feedback will be posted when recieved' crap? What, are are you afraid I will be unsatisfied and use my feedback to lash out at you? Do you want to retain some leverage against me? That's crap.
I agree with the 'holding cell' idea, too. I think it would help force sellers/buyers to use the system that was set up to help us make more educated buying decisions.
The feedback system on ebay is a great tool. When I've bought from someone with more than one negative and not a lot of positives, I've had trouble getting my merchandise. Feedback dosen't lie.
ffas23...I wouldn't bother. I bought from this seller and paid that day via Paypal. I also left feedback, which was +, as soon as I recieved the item. I emailed asking him to reciprocate with appropriate feedback and here is what he did to me:
Negative feedback rating don't beg for feedback

I asked ebay to retract it but ebay will not once it is posted.
Again...don't waste your time asking. The thought that " I will post it when I'm ready" is bullsh@t and poor business. Period.
Anyone who thinks because they have over 1000+ feedback rating allows them to "do it at their own leasure" is why people hesitate to use ebay alot of times. Especially getting a negative feedback when something was paid for the day of the auction. Now that is

I got 63 feedbacks on about 130 transactions... Less than 50% of the people leave feedback.. I don't care.. Don't think it makes a huge difference for me if my rating is 130 or 60 as long as it's 100% positive... I'm a Ebay member since '99 and only have positive feedback...

yep but when 1 goob leaves one unwarrented - feedback, it takes a lifetime to get back to 100%

I buy mainly from Wilcox Corvette and the service is excellent.
The Feedback issue of E-bay is posted on each of their auctions as below.

We love leaving you feedback but until Ebay can come up with a faster way (bulk) for us to leave it, we will leave feedback at our earliest convience. OUR MAIN GOAL IS TO PROVIDE YOU WITH THE LOWEST PRICE, HIGHEST QUALITY PART, IN THE FASTEST POSSIBLE MANNER. This is more important than leaving feedback to us. Remember Feedback is strickly optional!
I'm not saying that Wilcox is above leaving it, but Mr. Wicox has e-mailed me as late as 9:30 PM still in the shop working to process all of the orders that as he states are more important. Jim
this is straight from eBays rules on feedback
# Always leave feedback after a transaction so that other members may benefit from your experience.
# You cannot remove Feedback you have left, so be sure to leave only fair and factual comments and ratings that relate to a specific transaction you have with your trading partner.
The feedback should be left according to the experience and should not be considered "if and when we have time"
I say people with over 1000 feedbacks don't have time to leave feedback. I say BS and they are the worse kind on ebay. They have the time to take your money, but claim they don't have time to leave feedback.
My first two years on ebay. I always left feedback when the transaction was completed, and I averaged 50% of the people giving me feedback.
I changed my policy, and for the past 2 years I only give feedback after I have received feedback. Now I average 95% of the people giving me feedback.
I have dealt with a lot of fine people on ebay, but there is about a 2 % jerk factor.
You guys are lucky that you can even buy items on Ebay us that live in countries out side the USA and Europe can't even buy anything. The reason for this is Paypal they don't reconize credit cards for out side these countries.I can't even give free money to the forum(Paypal Only)
