If your engine is stock a 1 5/8" headers is good enough. As the brand theres a lot of good headers from just black to jet hot coated, but if you want just something that look and sound good a set of dynomax headers is good enough. That's what i have. Make sure you get a good set of gasket and you will be ok.
I have a 350 in the car now (not original). It has a nice cam in it - not sure what size - in the car when I got it. The plate on the side of the block says bored 0.010 so it should use the 1 5/8" openings.
I learned my lesson on gaskets with my old truck. gotta get good ones and keep the headers tight (but not too tight) to keep a good seal.
All of the smog control stuff is gone - thank God I am in a state that does not have strict controls on that.
I had mine ceramic coated by a guy here locally. I know guys that have put POR-15 on thier headers and it only lasts a year or two. Definetely go ceramic coated, protects the headers and keeps temperatures down under the hood. Stainless would be the ultimate but we're talking lots of $$$.
Another thing - switching to headers will have a tendancy to lean out your air/fuel mixture so you will want to jet your carb a little richer. A leaner air/fuel mixture means higher exhaust temps. If your exhaust is too hot the ceramic coating finish will dull and not last as long.
