Is the cap for the '72 vented or not? I've got a couple locking caps for the C3, but they have vent holes, and I'm not sure what years they are for. I suppose you could always have the holes filled? They are very small... I see the non-vented caps on eBay from time to time (NOS or new repros) for around $80. 
If you can use a vented cap, let me know. It'll be a lot less than $80, I promise...
