Default reassemble interior

I pulled the interior out of my 70 coupe yesterday. Today I painted and dyed parts. My goal is to put new carpet in and freshen everything else up. When I pulled out the old carpet I found that one of the rubber floor plugs was missing (probably why the carpet looks like it has been getting wet for some time).
So, instead of putting the carpet back in I'll have to wait until I can get the floor plug from a supplier. In the meantime, I want to start putting some stuff back together tomorrow since I'm off work for the holiday. I know I can't put my center console in until the carpet is in place since the carpet goes under it. Is there any reason I can't put my gauge/radio panel back in, or does this have to go back after the center console? Also, once I get the carpet in, should I put the console in first, or the parking brake cover in first and then follow with the center console?

I'll appreciate any advice.

Dave

I would put the carpet in first. It does tuck under the center console a bit. Just easier that way since its all out.

Not sure how you took everyting out, but putting the gauge bezel in is a real PITA. When I reinstalled mine in my 70, I put the shift console in first. Then the e-brake console. (don't forget the screw that attaches at the rear of the console through the center storage compartment). Next was the gauge bezel. I left the lower right and left dash pads out so I could hook everthing up and more importantly have a bit extra room to attach those 2 nuts on the bottom of the bezel below the radio. (toughest thing to do). Then the L/R lower dash pads, being very careful not to break the fragile upper sides of the gauge bezel. good luck

Sorry forgot that. You can put that in prior to the lower dash pads being careful of that gauge bezel again. While your at it. Put in the pillar post left, right, and center moldings before the upper dash. If not you need to wiggle the L/R pieces and they may distort where the visors attach.

I only had one plug in the very back piece of carpet (the rear wall). I just pulled the carpet back and it came out. Looks to be in good condition. I think 71 and 72 have a couple more plugs, but I only had the one.
