Default update #3: she's running again

well, for those of you keeping up, she's alive! (for those who have not, i blew a head gasket at a track event earlier this month. fortunately, no more serious damage)
buttoned everything (almost) up last night and popped her over. did a little more to her today but she's at least good enough to make the 'voyage' cruise-in tomorrow. how convenient it's only about 5 miles from my house. (yeah)
a few things:
1) apparently, my harmonic balancer has slipped something awful. when attempting to set timing, it is no where to be found. i eventually found it pointing almost straight down when #1 was at TDC. fluidamper, here i come.
2) tach is not working for some reason. i probably just haven't found the right connection yet (aftermarket ignition and all) *or* possibly because...
3) the alternator is still fried. (part of update above, alt mysteriously cut out on me at the same time the head gasket blew. very strange) pulled it off when i pulled the head and noticed the bridge rectifier had a blown diode. wouldn't be that bad if i could get a rectifier over the counter but i also broke a terminal on the stator when pulling it apart for inspection. damn!
4) fixed some of the nasty sounding exhaust leaks. got those percy 'dead-soft' aluminum collector gaskets and so far, much, much better. exhaust leaks drive me batty and i was getting to where i hated driving her 'cause she just sounded like $h!+. still a couple small ones but considering the entire system needs to be replaced, i'll deal with them for now.

now, i took the opportunity to install the bowtie (performer RPM) intake while i was at it and i think that once i get her sorted out she'll be faster than she ever has been. still have a bit of work to get her there but i'm happy with the progress made so far.
