Since I am ordering from Scotland, it makes no difference to me geographically which supplier I use, so when I had a problem with Ecklers I just stopped using them and go with Zip or MAD. Their loss since I have since spent thousands rebuilding the whole car!

Many consider where I live as "international". Many will not ship anything but UPS, which charges unrealistic shipping charges to my location. And some suppliers won't even deal with anyone outside the continental USA.

But Ecklers has been shipping to me for years. And the last few years, they have given me good service. There are other suppliers on my list that are more preferable for one reason or another. And I am always giving a new vendor the benefit of the doubt.

So when I find a reliable vendor with great prices, I give them the bulk of my business which recently amounts to over $20,000 a month.

Living in Guam USA may not be as bad as Oz or Germany...but we still have problems with those that consider us as foreigners......

I had a little burp with them when I bought my spinners. Ecklers sent me ones for a C4.. was a bit of a pian to get them to realize that they did. I went thru MAMW and never have a problem. Shipping is great thru them however, I live about 5 hours from them....

You got that right, but there is now a corvette/cadillac importer/dealer in the entherlands but even they don't have parts, they all come from the US or Sweden. There are corvette shops here but most of them are crooks, they take ecklers price, multiply it by 1,8 and put a euro sign instead of the dollar sign so effectively you're paying over twice the price of that same part in the US. That's why I buy everything in the US (you guys oughta thank us poor Euro saps for supporting your economy LOL) If you want something here you only have 1 option, order in the US and get raped on shipping & import tax...sucks to be us

As for ecklers, they're crooks. They charged me for shipping charges of a large shipment (250$ shipment if I remember correctly) and when the brown truck appeared they made me pay anohter 250$ otherwise i wouldn't get my stuff, I figured I'd get the money back from ecklers w/ the UPS receipt as proof...guess what, everyone over there is deaf dumb & blind all of a sudden I ate the 250$, can't do anything about it 9since the ups guy was paid cash and w/ the delivery times the CC company was of no help either)..oh and on top of the 250$ shipping they made me pay 25$ for international handling.. so you pay 250$ for an international rip off I never bought from them again. Oh, and most of the shipped stuff was junk (interior parts that don't fit or come close to fitting), some stuff was the wrong stuff (wrong year decals/emblems)... I figured the best solution was to toss all stock stuff and fab everything from scratch, that way I won't have to del with people like them anymore

If you are living in Germany and are concerned about parts, buy a German sports car. Otherwise, live with what you got and don't gripe

DJ,
For starters I am not German. I am an american service member station in Germany and the car got shipped here cause I own it. No there are no AFTERMARKET dealers here casue the car is american, built in america. If you buy a beemer in the states gues where the parts come from. The hood is aftermarket and Ecklers is the only ones that have it. it is being rplaced by the insurance so it is the one I have to get. I don't have a lot of choices, and honestly I love the way itlooks and wouldn't swap it for any others.
The thread really has nothing to do with where I live, what I am getting and where it is going. It is the simple fact that Ecklers ignored in every possible aspect. Everytime I called and got an answering machine they didn't know if it was from Korea or 2 blocks down, for 1.5 weeks. That is the point!

Derek: I apologize if my post was taken the wrong way. First off I appreciate your service to our country. I did my part back in 1967-1970. The closeset we got to any kind of muscle car or Vette was to see it in a Hot Rod magazine while scraping paddy mud off it.
We had to wait till we got home to enjoy what you are driving over there.
Part of having a car that in another country is "exotic" is the problem with getting replacement parts. And what you ordered is a special part so it gets even more difficult to get it. We can get replacement parts in America because what we order is what BMW and Mercedes and Toyota have as standard equipment. And there are zillions of Toyotas rolling around in the US. If the hood from Ecklers is the only one you can use, perhaps you can contact someone on the forum who lives close to Ecklers and can go to bat for you. That's worked well for some folks in the past. When someone can get up in their face and talk to them they get a whole different attitude. Just a suggestion.

I have ordered a few items on different occasions from ecklers and the only problem i ever had was either a mistake by me or a mistake by their internet order form. I had ordered some things one night and i think the final comfirmation page messed up somehow. So i waited a couple of days then checked out my bank account online and no money had been withdrawn for the ecklers purchase so i called them up and placed the order. I received my parts then a couple days later another package showed up with the exact same parts. I called them back and they had fedex stop by the next day to pick up the things to be returned.

No problem Dep, sorry if i seemed harsh. Didn't mean ATALL to be. It was just that wasn't the point of my orignal thread ( which if you go and read the end I asked it to be locked). I felt that my point was made and it started turning into somethin I didn't want. Purely informative. I want people to make there on choice but you also have the right to know how i was treated. That is all wanted. Sorry again if I my rebuttle was to harsh. I'm not in this to get anyone mad (especially at me). Take care buddy!!!
