Only if I need the part asap I drive over to Titusville and get it... I usually pay cash because I don't even trust them on credit card transactions because of their horrible reputation....
.... so you're selling the C5 ??? Because of the high gas prices over there ?? How much is it now - E1.20/liter ?? I lived there for 29 years, had to drive a 4 banger Honda.........
Hmm..I read that thread.
Im having serious second thoughts about buying anything from Ecklers now.
I was going to buy a couple of parts from them tomorrow for my vette, but now Im looking into other parts places.
Who do you recommend for c3 parts? Paragon? Zip? Mid America?

Thanks for posting this thread dude.
Eckler's is the most expensive .... you pay a lot of money for terrible service.... like I said, I only buy there if I need the part the same day..... I had very good experience with VBP, MidAmerica and CorvetteCentral.........

Well, for one thing it is not owned by the Ecklers anymore. They sold out and retired. I think it is now a publicly owned company.
I have made one purchase from them in about ten years. I had a gift certificate that almost expired and used last month. My parts came correctly and timely. I was surprised.
Another thing, international sales for some reason are a pain to many companies. Customs and shipping along with currencies must upset the rythmn of the syatem.
I have a good friend in OZ that has everything shipped to me and then I forward it to him in OZ. It seems to work a lot better than his going straight to the company and trying to persuade them to ship international.
Never had a problem with them. Sometimes poop happens, though. And I don't think I'd even consider ordering parts from another continent. Would I order parts from a catalog seller that was located in Germany? Nope. Caveat emptor

There is no Corvette parts supplier over there, that's why he has to order from here... on the other hand: you won't believe how much stuff for (for example) VW beetles or the older bugs you can get there that you cannot buy here.... sometimes you have to order from another continent if you want something special...

Wait a minute....we aren't talking about an old geezer C3 Vette. We are talking about a 1998 CORVETTE. Don't tell me there aren't any parts places supplying C5 Corvettes over there. If you order a fancy dancy part that is ONLY available in the USA...then you are shakin the dice.
Actually, I've never had any problems with Ecklers. Of course I'm a US buyer. I have sensed, that even though they are based in Florida, they have a little bit of a Northeastern US attitude. Some of the people I've talked to have been a little bit terse, but I have never had an actual problem.
If they don't ship properly, find another parts vendor. There's really a lot of competition out there.
And you think C5 Vettes are common in Europe???
Heck, even Canadians get stuck trying to buy goodies for their late model Vettes. And don't even think about Mexico...
I have no idea whether C5 Vettes are common in Europe. But if they aren't, why would you buy one knowing the parts situation may be flakey??? A foreign car is a foreign car depending on what country you are in.
If you are living in Germany and are concerned about parts, buy a German sports car. Otherwise, live with what you got and don't gripe

A new Corvette is a "special order" car at the dealerships - you won't find them in the showroom, well, maybe one that's for 'show only'.... there are no GM dealers, over there it's called OPEL..... every car with an engine size bigger that 2liters is not affordable due to taxes based on engine size and the gas price (roughly $6 per gallon) ... I lived there for 29 years and I have not seen many Corvettes on the road.... oh, have I mentioned the car insurance ?? no, I don't even want to remember that... you're talking big $$$.....
I ordered a custom length shift boot from redlinegoods on the 22nd....they sent an email on the 23rd stating it was shipped from Poland. I received it yesterday priority mail and I must say it looks really good and 100 times better than the POS boot I bought from MA Motorworks! This just shows me a vendor can produce a quality product with timely shipping........even from Poland!!!

WOW!!! I suggest you catch the next flight to Vegas and bring LOTS of cash!!! With luck like that you'll be a millionaire in no time!!!
ive ordered in total almost 5000 from ecklers i live in canada and i used a bank wire to top it off i have had no problems with ecklers just recieved my last order worth 3400 all except for one back ordered part im still waiting for linda and debbie from international sales have been very good to me.Im sorry to see that others have had problems but i will continue to use ecklers
#1, surprised to find another weapons troop on here, was in the 81FS 92-96, and my old boss in now the WWM there...I'm at D-M now...bet that thing is fun on #1...and on the road to work, but I find the roads north of Oberkail (sp???) to be a lot of fun to drive.
#2, if you're willing to deal with a 'dealer', the Opel dealership in Bitburg replaced my brakes and transmission on my 94 Grand Prix (warranty work, didn't like going 9 on cruise control), never had a problem after that, since you are dealing with a C5.
edit: never mind...(to self, "dewey, read the entire post first"...)
They still have that little parts store in Spang town, right?
I only ever bought one item from Ecklers, and that was because they were the only ones I could find who had it. (68 shifter T bar)
After looking in the catalog ($16) and calling them (sorry it's gone up to $20) adding postage ($20) and the international handling fee I did not find out about until the part arrived(another $20) then converting it to Aus $ it owed me around $90.
I now use a reliable source, a Chevy dealership! They can get all the GM repop stuff and they give me a great price. Even get me stuff for my 68 Bonneville. I only use the aftermarket suppliers when my Dealer can't get it through all his channels.
I understand your frustration.
Us foreigners depend on the catalogs and the honesty of the suppliers in the US. thanks to Forums like this they can no longer have an attitude to off shore buyers "Cause what does it matter if I pi$$ed off a guy from Australia?"
