they sell these in 'short' 2 5/8" and in 'tall' 3 11/16" height. I am pretty sure that I currently have the shorter version (plain chrome covers) and I like those on ebay a lot better.
What height should I buy ? I don't think there'll be interference issue (f.e. air filter) with the taller version but want to make sure before I buy ...
If you don't have roller rockers, get the lower ones.. I personally can only run tall ones without baffles because of my stud girdles..
I currently have the lower ones with roller tip rockers. I think the taller ones look better - is there any disadvantage with the tall ones ? BTW - $54 seems very inexpensive for cast aluminum covers ...
except when you have pivot ball rockers (the roller tips style included), then you may need the drip tabs and low covers to prevent oil starvation at the pivot ball, resulting in galling & seizing.
Tall ones are for clearance of roller rockers that are a waste of money to install on a street engine.
If you were running a big block, then tall covers MAY be an issue with hitting the power brake booster. People install Hydraboost to solve that.
BTW...$54 is DIRT CHEAP for cast aluminum valve covers. Price a pair of factory cast aluminum valve covers if you want to see expensive. As in $120 EACH.
Thanks for all the replies, I guess I'm going to buy these. I have to agree with dep, after some price comparison I have to say it really is dirt cheap....
Just bought my valve covers - they should arrive by the end of this week so next weekend I get to play a little in my garage... I found the cast aluminum covers for $49.99 plus $10 shipping. That seller also had rocker arms (standard style) including the pivot ***** and nuts for $31.99 so I had to get these as well.... I currently have a slight "clicking" noise and I am suspecting my roller tip rockers.... I'll keep you updated on my progress and will post photos once the covers are installed...
