I think they look great, and if they are more comfortable then my seats I would do it. Do you lose any headroom with them? Did they make leather covers in pace car silver?
Stock is boring. As long as your not putting 5" exhaust tips and double-decker wings on your car dont worry about what other people think, its your car.
Geez I was thinking about a wing , maybe even a double decker
I could ony afford 4 inch tips on the end of the hookers. no mufflers!
Seriously, it's your car and your money, do what you want.

They do sit higher. I'm only 5'6" so it's not an issue for me. The only issue was the clearance between the seat and steering wheel. '68s don't have tilt wheel. That is one of the reasons I put the smaller momo wheel on.
I ordered the seat covers from al knock. I think all the seat covers are made to order, so making C4 covers in a C3 color wasn't a problem for them. They don't even charge extra, plus I ordered them at a swap meet and got the show discount. And because they were not on the truck and had to be made and then shipped from TX they didn't cahrge sales tax. It was a pretty sweet deal... still expensive though I also picked up the C4 shells at the same show. I paid $100 for 4 seats. I bought four so I could combine parts to make 2 good ones.
Personally, I would have painted the seat backs Saddle to match the interior though. I believe it would let them blend in with the rest of the interior trim a little better. This may be why people are noticing them as not being original to your car. JMHO jim
I think you are right. I did seriously consider painting them saddle to match, but I decided not to because the shells are black all the way through, so if they scratch it won't be very noticable if they are painted black. If the saddle paint were to get scratched it would look really bad.
My justification was that they are black in a C4 and look ok.
Maybe somtime down the road I'll try painting them saddle.
I like them. My problem is that I need about 1/2 to 1 inch more rear travel with the stock seats to be comfortable. Your seats look like the rear is thinner than the stock seats. Have you noticed anymore leg room???????

Have to agree with Jim. Those seats look great except for the backs. Get hold of some SEM vinyl paint. Prep the seat backs with the SEM sandfree prep and then paint them to match the interior. They will be camoflauged and blend in.
May stop your car being a "whiney-voice-talker" magnet.
I like them and I did both styles of NCRS cars. When those whiny voice people complain about my yellow and tan 82 I offer to let them pay for the next restoration. So far no takers.

I think they look pretty darn good in your car Jay. To heck with what they think, you make it like you like it. I would like to have added later model seats to mine, maybe sometime in the future.

Jay, If you have an extra set of backs, try dying a set and put them in to see how much better it will blend ? I think that the Saddle is a secondary color and that the Black takes the primary visual attention.
The SEM isn't bad at all about scratching. I always wipe the plastic I painit down with Paint Retarder to heat them up a little and let the paint burn in. It will be tough as nails. Try one and let's see. jim
