I'm sure most of you realize that G-Machines is the new "fad" in muscle cars, and is really pinpointed in magazines like "Popular Hot-rodding"..
I'm interesting in doing a C3 G-Machine(68-72), and I was wondering if anyone on here had done one in particular...It seems that most of you guys leave your wheels stock, just wondering if anyone can prove me wrong!
Check out protouring.com theres some good info over there and a few of us are also on there.
Checked out www.protouring.com ...URL doesn't exist. So, I went to www.pro-touring.com ...cool site, but still no definition of "G Machine". Is it a fad term for Pro-Street?

Actually, g-machines have been the thing for about 5 or more years in these mags. In the '90s it was pro-touring where looks were everything. Finally, someone realized that handling was important, so the custom builders are now designing in and adding performance around curves (vs. straight line speed) to their cars. This is a good thing in my opinion. The G comes from "gravity" as in .8g or 1.0g cornering force capability.
Most of the Vettes started life already way above their counterparts in the G department, so many folks don't feel a need to try to improve on some thing already pretty good. On the other hand, check out all the guys doing suspension upgrades and wheel changes. I think at least half of us are not running stock wheels.
Hang around and you will see several vettes with upgraded wheel/tire combos, suspension upgrades and some serious HP. Where's Norval, 69MyWay, Twin_Turbo, Gkull, etc..
lol, i didn't mean to give any of you guys the wrong impression about my project...I didn't have any plans for any bling-bling spinners, or any of that gaudy garbage.
I had just never seen a C3 that strayed from stock wheels and suspension before. The Torque Thrust II's that were on the 73' earlier in this thread was a decent start though.

Hey...don't knock it unless you've tried it!!! I bet there are LOTS of guys with those bling-bling spinner wheels that just won't admit it!!!
It may help us to help you if you're more specific about your request. I've seen g-machines that range from Pintos to Mopars and anything in between. If you're looking for what you need to do to put bigger wheels (17" or 18") and tires on your vette there are plenty of members that can help with that upgraded. If you upgrade your wheels more than likely you'll need suspension modifications or you'll look like your driving a 4x4. If you want to add coil overs or rack & pinion there are plenty of those too. If your looking for engine or tranny modifications, you'll find everything from stock to turbo chargers, tranny modifications run from stock to overdrive replacements, to swapping automatics for 4 or 5 speeds. Don't forget interior upgrades from seats, rollgages, 4 or 5 point harnesses, etc.. Take some time and poke around some of the post concerning upgrades and we'll help you figure it out. Rod
