Anyone have under the hood pictures of their 454 big block? What I'm looking for is positioning (left / right) of the alternator and bracket (no AC) and the power steering pump. Are there any spacers used on the PS pump bracket or does it bolt directly to the engine? My engine has been apart for 15 months and I don't quite remember how it goes back together Don't want to try and put in any spacers if they aren't supposed to be used.

And here is the factory setup, but with A/C if it helps. No spacers on the power steering pump bracket, they bolt straight to the block. The rear bracket may need a spacer on the exhaust manifold bolt if you are running headers, as they are set for the width of the stock manifold flange, not a header flange which is much thinner.

Hope these help.

Steve

Thanks Steve...much better insight as to how this goes back together. My alternator was mounted on the other side and the guy used a bunch of washers to shim it out... trying to elminate the "cobb" job effect.

Steve

I hade to use several washers on the adjustment bracket, too. I notice Steve's 74 has the upper brackets mounting at the head AND the water pump. Mine are both mounted to the head sing the same bolt. It works, but I'm not sure which is right. I assembled mine using the AIM, but the pictures in there are pretty crummy sometimes...

Thanks, Buzzard! I'm still working on the look... Not quite "there" yet.
