Default Stinger hood

With my new setup (Performer 2701 and Holley670) I think I'm going to need more clearance. Anybody got a line on where to find a stinger hood. I think it's either that or an L88

Eckler's (www.ecklers.com) has both of those hoods. The Stinger Hood is $649.00. The L-88 is $549.00.

Do NOT buy from Vanacor! They sent me and a freind two different style hoods at the same time. They were so warped & screwed up we sent them back. They said they would not charge a restocking fee if they agreed with what we & our body shop pointed out, when they got them back. They charged us! Then they proceeded to bill us THREE TIMES the return shipping cost, than what we paid to get them shipped to us! ...From what I'm told, most of the other outlets get there stuff from www.acivette.com anyway. But not vanacor, they make there own.

..... the last few weeks here in C3-General (I believe one thread is the C5 wheels on C3 cars), I've seen a couple pictures of C3 hoods with '78-'79 Z28 scoops grafted-on that don't look too-bad at all, and may provide ample clearence.....

I was wondering if that was a good option or not.At least you know you're starting out with a hood that fits right, but hows the mounting point hold up?

I've read a couple posts on one of the vette sites I frequent, from members that liked Vanacor. But I havent heard that for quite some time,....and we wont ever deal with them again. The same freind I mentioned just got a Stinger for his '77 from Ecklers, and it looks great.Maybe he got lucky, but all the body shop did(same one) was line it up when mounting it, and prep & paint it.I havent tried Ecklers for vette body parts

.... can't say how it'd hold-up on a fiberglass C3 hood:
I know the Z28 scoop has approx 13 screws moulded into it, that protrude thu the hood of a Camaro (I am the original owner of a '79 Z28 that I've made into a functional air-intake, and have had my scoop off many times), and are attached with small nuts.....
over-tightening them on a C3 may result in cracks forming on the hood, so bondo may be the answer.....

My car is made almost totally from vanacor's fiberglass parts and I have never received a bad part. I do TONS of body work and am VERY meticulous. I think some people on here don't understand the nature of owning a fibergalss car.

There are tons of posts on this topic. Try a search.
