Default I.d. My Engine

I went to the swap meet today looking for a doner engine for my 1977 project car. I found a vender with a 350 engine with a 350 tranny attached for $300 dollars. The engine was prety much complete minus the starter qudra-jet carb and alternator. Hw said it was running when he pulled it out of a 79 impala. I found some of the numbers. The block casting number is 3970010 which I identified as a 69-79 350 the other numbers on the pad is where I cant find identification for. I need your help. The two numbers on the pad are V0216HH and 185224115. Soon I will pull the pan after I get a compression chec and oil pressure check then rebuild the engine. Thanks again for any help.

The V0 number is a engine code the fist letter is the plant, the next 2 numbers are the month and the next two numbers are the day and the last letters are the suffix
The other number is the orginal VIV number

V= Flint Mich.
02 = Feb
16= 16th day
HH= Suffix The two letter suffix ended in 1969, from then on it went to 3 letters

The last group of numbers is part of the VIN of the car the engine was originally in. If it is indeed a '69 block, the HH designation means it was a 300 horse 350 with a 4 barrel, or so I've read. Check the back of the block by the bellhousing for the date it was cast. "CHH" however could mean that it was a 170 horse 350 in 1978. Either way you probably got a good deal.

HH equates to a 300hp 350 out of a full size car or truck, with a turbo 400 auto trans.
